The article is devoted to the systematic analysis of one of the current methodologies of law – hermeneutics. The research began with a study of the historical context in which were born the first knowledge of the general theory of understanding – hermeneutics. In the article the study of epistemological knowledge of the hermeneutical problems of original philosopher of antiquity – Socrates, in particular on account of his ideas concerning the construction of a separate theory of judgment, which is confirmed by practical examples of ancient dialogues; analyzed methods of forming conclusions Socrates; ratio achieved with the latest modern the laws of the science of logic, an attempt to start the formation of a complex knowledge of scientific knowledge
concerning interpretive activities with reference to the historical aspect of the problem (the description of the phenomenon of the «demons» of eksegetov) provided illustration of the original teachings of Socrates and the recollection of innate human knowledge.
