General Legal Terminology in the Slavic Language Group: Comparative Characteristics

In the article the origin of the general legal terminology, in particular, such terms, as law, the law, a crime, criminal, penal, a permission, to permit, a state, a court in Ukrainian, Polish and Russian languages is examined and analyzed, comparative legal analysis of the terms is conducted. The etymology of current terms shows their common origin and understanding in the Indo-European language family, particularly, in its Slavic group that contributes to the formation and further development of the common European interpretation, realization and application of law on the basis of the common European ideas, values and principles of law. Common legal understanding is the foundation of uniform application of law, reforms of the Ukrainian legal system and successful European integration with respect for the principle of the rule of law, law-governed state, securing and effective protection of human rights and freedoms.
