Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of the scholarly legal journal Bulletin of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine is to ensure high-quality scientific communication in the field of law by publishing the results of fundamental and applied research aimed at the development of legal science, the improvement of Ukraine’s legal system, and the integration of domestic research into the European and global academic space. The journal is intended to serve as an authoritative platform for the exchange of scientific ideas, the testing of innovative approaches, and the formation of contemporary legal doctrine that responds to the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and the transformation of social relations, particularly in conditions of martial law and the post-war recovery of the state.

In its activities, the journal focuses on:

  • ensuring high standards of academic quality, integrity, and independent peer review;
  • integration into the international scientific space and enhancing the visibility of Ukrainian legal research;
  • promoting the development of interdisciplinary approaches in law;
  • formulating scientifically substantiated recommendations for legislative and law enforcement activities;
  • supporting scientific schools and training the next generation of researchers.

The journal contributes to strengthening the role of legal science as the intellectual foundation of state-building, ensuring the rule of law, and protecting human rights and freedoms in Ukraine.

The most prioritized areas for publication in the journal include:

  • adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to European Union law in accordance with the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU;
  • post-war reconstruction of Ukraine;
  • ensuring national security and defense, investigation of war crimes and crimes against peace, security of humanity, and the international legal order;
  • mechanisms of accountability, compensation, and restitution for damage caused to citizens of Ukraine, legal entities, the state of Ukraine, and natural objects by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation;
  • reforming Ukraine’s legal system in line with national and international trends in building a legal and social state;
  • issues of state information security, protection of personal data, restricted information, and countering negative informational influences;
  • prospects for the development and improvement of e-governance and electronic justice;
  • application of digital technologies (electronic money, smart contracts, blockchain technologies, etc.);
  • legal support for principles of age, gender, racial, and religious equality, equality of social minorities, and protection of human and civil rights in all spheres of public life;
  • legal evaluation of migration processes and their consequences;
  • regulation of the status of occupied territories, ensuring the observance and protection of the rights of citizens living in these territories;
  • issues of use, reproduction, and protection of natural resources and complexes;
  • addressing problems related to the consequences of global warming, man-made disasters, and natural calamities in the legal field;
  • regulatory support for the agricultural land market;
  • legal and criminological support for anti-corruption efforts.

The scholarly legal journal Bulletin of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine is guided in its work by ensuring high standards of scientific quality, integration into the international scientific space, and strengthening the role of legal science in state development.

In this context, the journal’s primary objectives are:

  • Improving the quality of scientific content. The editorial board ensures adherence to high standards of peer review and selection of materials, focusing on scientific novelty, methodological rigor, and practical significance of research.
  • Internationalization of the journal. The journal consistently expands its international component by engaging foreign authors and reviewers, increasing the number of publications in English, and developing cooperation with international research institutions.
  • Enhancing bibliometric visibility. Particular attention is paid to integrating the journal into leading international bibliometric databases, increasing the citation of publications, and complying with international standards of academic integrity.
  • Digitalization and open access. The editorial board implements modern digital tools for scientific communication, provides open access to research results, and improves the journal’s electronic platform.
  • Compliance with international standards of publication ethics. The journal is guided by the principles of leading international organizations in academic integrity, ensures transparency of editorial procedures, and prevents violations of ethical norms.
