The article emphasizes that the legal system always tries to stay up to date with the development of society. The decisive role in this belongs to the legislator, who, based on the needs of legal practice and society, carries out lawmaking, based on the principle of efficiency, that is, maintaining national legislation up to date, developing and adopting new laws if necessary, making changes, additions to old regulatory legal acts if necessary, and also canceling irrelevant and unnecessary acts or their individual provisions. The article aims to consider various trends in the development of law in modern conditions. One of the largest processes, which is characteristic mainly for the whole world since the 90s of the twentieth century, is globalization. Globalization, in turn, is a complex and multifaceted concept, since it covers not only the sphere of law. This concept is used to denote the modern form of interstate relations, characterized by the spread of interdependence between countries in the economic, political, cultural, legal and other spheres practically throughout the globe. The manifestation of globalization in law in the form of legal convergence is studied. It is emphasized that convergence is a process as a result of which certain unrelated elements appear to have the same features. And legal convergence is a symbiosis of the legal systems of certain states, which occurs on the basis of factors that can both hinder this process and, conversely, promote it. These factors are not only in the legal sphere, such factors can be, for example, certain socio-economic or political factors, in particular, the interests of the political elite. The result of the study concluded that the analysis of the legal nature of globalization is of great importance, since it also covers the sphere of law. The greatest manifestation of globalization in law is legal convergence. Convergence is a process as a result of which certain unrelated elements have the same characteristics. Globalization as a large process in turn determines other processes in the field of law – unification, standardization, harmonization, adaptation, reception, approximation. They, in turn, are the means of implementing globalization
