Domestic violence against the elderly is a serious social and legal problem that requires effective investigation mechanisms, among which the key role is played by the inspection of the scene. The purpose of the study is to determine the peculiarities of the inspection of the scene in criminal proceedings on domestic violence against the elderly, as well as to outline its importance for establishing the circumstances of the crime, collecting evidence and forming investigative versions. The work uses the formal legal method for the study of the regulatory framework and the methodology of a systematic approach for analysis of the relationship between the trace picture of the crime, the psychological features of the victims and the actions of the offender. The study found that an overview of the scene is an important tool for identifying traces of different forms of violence - physical, psychological, economic. The characteristic features of such traces, including traces of struggle, damaged property, improper living conditions, traces of isolation of the victim, instruments of violence, medical and financial documents, were analyzed. The peculiarities of the tactics of inspection of the scene in cases where the victim due to his age, physical or psychological state cannot independently provide a testimony or describe the event. Investigative techniques have been summarized that allow you to ensure full fixation of evidence, minimizing the impact of latency of such crimes. The practical value of the study is the possibility of applying the conclusions received in the activities of investigators, forensic experts, operatives and other pre-trial entities to improve the method of inspection of the scene, which will increase the effectiveness of investigation of domestic violence against the elderly.
