The article considers the problem of the need to expand the tasks of forensic science in connection with the challenges that arose after the large-scale invasion of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of independent Ukraine and the conduct of an aggressive war, during which the invaders committed numerous crimes against the civilian population, destroyed vital important infrastructure, cultural and historical objects, committing crimes of genocide and ecocide, which is a gross violation of the norms of international humanitarian law. The need to use special knowledge when conducting investigative actions, as well as in the form of appointing and conducting relevant forensic examinations, is emphasized.
